Have you considered using your gifts with john knox presbytery?
No matter who you are, god has a calling for your life; We can help you find that calling!
Our Presbytery is hard at work for you and your church. We support the various Pastors who are members of our Presbytery, providing them with help as they minister to you. We connect with our churches to ensure that we stay ready to support each other and grow together. We provide encouragement and structure for those seeking Ordination or Commissioning. We watch over the finances your church gives to us and that we pass along to PC(USA). We support our paid staff, providing them encouragement and help as they look to work for you.
Whether your skills are in building relationships, finance, technology, or simply being a part of a team, John Knox has a place for you. Look over our committees and see where you would best fit!

Presbytery Council
The Presbytery Council is responsible for strategic planning, mission development, and overseeing financial matters, including the annual budget. It also serves as the trustee body for the presbytery, handling property transactions and legal matters in accordance with the Book of Order and presbytery policy. Additional duties may be assigned by the presbytery as needed.
The Presbytery Council includes 12 at-large members—equally divided between ministers and elders—who are geographically representative of the presbytery. Members may serve up to two terms, not exceeding six years total, and are elected in rotating classes. The Council elects its own chair annually. In addition, the current moderator, vice moderator, and immediate past moderator serve as voting ex-officio members. The Executive Presbyter serves as an ex-officio member without vote.
Meets: Quarterly, Prior to Presbytery Meetings, Time TBD via Zoom

Fiscal operations task force
A subset of the Presbytery Council, the Fiscal Operations Task Force provides oversight of the presbytery’s financial matters. It is chaired by the Treasurer, an elected officer of the presbytery, and supported by key staff including the Executive Presbyter, Administrator, and Bookkeeper. Additional members are elected to serve on the task force, helping ensure responsible stewardship and transparency in all fiscal operations.

GEnerosity Task Force
A subset of the Presbytery Council, the Generosity Task Force encourages a spirit of joyful giving across the presbytery and leads our Annual Mission Campaign. In recent years, this campaign has focused on impactful causes such as the elimination of medical debt, reflecting our call to care for neighbors in need.

committee on ministry

The Committee on Ministry (COM) serves as pastor and counselor to teaching elders, commissioned ruling elders, and certified Christian educators within the presbytery. It facilitates relationships between leaders and congregations, oversees pastoral transitions, and helps resolve difficulties on behalf of the presbytery.
COM monitors terms of call, contracts, and compensation; maintains liaison with the Board of Pensions; and supports professional development. It also acts as an Administrative Commission with authority to examine, receive, dismiss, or retire ministers; approve calls and contracts; validate ministries; and appoint session moderators. All actions are reported to the next stated presbytery meeting.
The Committee on Ministry consists of 18 members—9 teaching elders and 9 ruling elders—elected with attention to the diversity of the presbytery. Members serve in three-year rotating classes and may serve up to six years. After serving two terms, a one-year break is required before re-election.
The committee elects its own chair annually from within its membership. All nominations are brought by the Nominating Committee, with the option for nominations from the floor.
Meets: Monthly, 1st Thursdays @ 1:00 p.m. via Zoom

Regional Coordinators
Regional Coordinators serve as local connections between the presbytery and its congregations. Assigned to different areas of the presbytery, they provide support to church leadership, help facilitate communication, and assist with pastoral care and transitions. Regional Coordinators strengthen relationships across the presbytery by offering a nearby, familiar presence and serving as a resource for both congregations and the Committee on Ministry.
Meets: 2nd Tuesdays @ 2:00 p.m. via Zoom
