The called pastor will inspire us and collaborate with us to reimagine a faithful future. We particularly wish to increase appeal to new members of all ages.
The pastor will lead the congregation in worship by preparing inspiring sermons and guiding Sunday and special services, partnering with the Worship Committee and Minister of Music to create meaningful themes and music. As Head of Staff, they will help nurture a healthy, collaborative church culture by serving ex officio on all committees, moderating Session, mentoring office personnel, and leading the Elder and Deacon retreat.
With a heart for service, the pastor will support and grow mission and outreach efforts, building on strong existing partnerships with local schools, food programs, and other community organizations. They will offer compassionate pastoral care through visits and spiritual support, working with Deacons to accompany the sick and homebound, and will officiate baptisms, weddings, and funerals with warmth and care.
We are seeking a pastor who will energize faith formation by contributing to weekly educational opportunities—such as adult education, sermon talkbacks, and Bible studies—while helping envision new programs that enrich congregational life. In the wider community, they will engage in ecumenical and interfaith collaboration, participating in regular gatherings with area Presbyterian ministers and connecting with leaders from diverse religious traditions across Madison.
